₹215-crore investment to strengthen plywood manufacturing capacity and support growth across North India

Century Plyboards (India) Ltd. today inaugurated its new plywood manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, marking a significant step in the company's expansion strategy and strengthening its manufacturing presence in North India.

Developed with a planned investment of approximately ₹215 crore across two phases, 180 crores phase one  and balance in phase two. The greenfield facility is spread over 27 acres and has been designed to cater to the growing demand for plywood across northern and north-western markets.

The plant which will make uncompromising plywood was inaugurated by Shri Sajjan Bhajanka, Chairman; Sanjay Agarwal, Managing Director; Mr. Keshav Bhajanka, Executive Director; and Ms. Nikita Bansal, Executive Director, CenturyPly.

The Hoshiarpur facility is CenturyPly's seventh plywood manufacturing plant in India, adding to its existing manufacturing network across West Bengal, Guwahati, Chennai, Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand. The new facility will further strengthen the company's ability to serve key markets including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Its location in Hoshiarpur offers proximity to a well-established timber and plywood ecosystem, skilled manpower and efficient connectivity to major consumption centres. The facility is expected to improve product availability, supply-chain responsiveness and delivery timelines across the region.

Commenting on the development, Ms. Nikita Bansal, Executive Director, Century Plyboards (India) Limited, said, “The commissioning of our Hoshiarpur facility is an important step in strengthening our manufacturing presence in North India and, more importantly, in advancing our pursuit of making uncompromising plywood. For us, this is not simply about adding capacity. It is about getting closer to our customers, strengthening our supply chain and being more agile in responding to changing market needs.

With an initial capacity of 60,000 CBM and plans to scale this to 1 lakh CBM within the next six months, we have the flexibility to build capacity in line with market demand. At the same time, the focus is on getting the fundamentals right, with technology-led processes, operational efficiency and consistent quality. I think that is what will allow Hoshiarpur to strengthen our ability to deliver plywood without compromise and support our growth in the region.”

The facility will commence operations with an annual production capacity of 60,000 CBM, with the second phase planned to scale the capacity to 1,00,000 CBM within the next six months. At full capacity, the facility is expected to contribute annual revenues of approximately ₹600 crore. The plant will manufacture uncompromising plywood using advanced automated systems across various stages of production. The integration of technology-led processes with consistent quality controls reflects the brand’s commitment to manufacturing excellence at scale.

The addition of the Hoshiarpur facility comes at a time when CenturyPly's existing plywood manufacturing network is operating at high capacity utilisation. The new facility will therefore play an important role in adding capacity, improving regional availability and supporting the company's growth across high-potential northern markets.

The project is also expected to generate substantial economic value for the region, creating more than 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities through manufacturing operations and allied sectors. The facility is expected to contribute to the development of local skills, vendors and associated livelihoods.

Built with a focus on operational efficiency and responsible manufacturing, the plant incorporates automated production processes, centralized dust collection systems, wastewater treatment facilities and provisions for rooftop solar power generation. It is also designed to utilise process-generated wood waste as fuel, promoting effective resource utilisation. Together, these measures reinforce CenturyPly’s sustainability approach by integrating cleaner energy, waste reuse and resource efficiency into its manufacturing operations.

The facility has been designed with future expansion in mind, with the second phase expected to further enhance its processing and production capabilities over the coming months. The company believes the new unit will strengthen product availability across northern markets while improving delivery timelines and supporting its wider pan-India manufacturing and distribution network.
